Rummy App Permissions Explained: What to Allow and Refuse
Usage access, install apps, microphone, overlay, SMS: what rummy APK permissions do, real examples from APKs we checked, and which ones to refuse. 18+.
A card game needs internet access and little else. Here are the permissions we find in rummy APKs, what they allow and what to do with each, with real examples from files we’ve checked.
Refuse unless you know why
- Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): lets the app see which other apps you use and for how long. Found in Q-567, Golds Bet and 765 Club.
- Install other apps (REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES): lets the app download and install more APKs. The same three apps request it.
- Draw over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): can show screens on top of other apps. Found in Jungle Haan.
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): only needed for voice chat. Jungle Haan requests it.
- SMS and contacts: not needed by any card game. OTPs arrive by normal SMS without the app reading your inbox.
- Accessibility services: can read and control your screen. Never grant to a game.
Allow only when needed
- Camera: for photographing KYC documents. Grant when you reach that step.
- Storage / photos: for uploading a document or avatar.
- Notifications: optional.
Normally fine
Internet, network state, Wi-Fi state, vibration and wake lock are standard.
How to review permissions
Settings › Apps › [app] › Permissions. For special access (usage, install apps, overlay), go to Settings › Apps › Special app access. Android lets you revoke any permission later.
The most permission-heavy app we’ve reviewed is Rummy Ultra, with 49.
Frequently asked questions
Will the game stop working if I deny permissions?
Card play shouldn’t need any of the refuse-list permissions. If an app won’t run without them, treat that as a warning.
Why does a rummy app want to install other apps?
Usually to push updates or other brands outside Google Play, which bypasses store checks.
18+ only. Rules vary by state and may change; check whether it is allowed where you are.
